Croftons teams up with CIH to deliver legal seminar programme

13 September 2016 • Mike Nuttall

Delivering a wide range of insight and expert legal guidance to the housing sector will be the aim of a programme of seminars Croftons Solicitors is running in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Housing’s North West regional team.

In a time of flux and uncertainty for the sector, the series of five seminars will focus on key legal topics currently affecting housing providers, providing them with a range of insight and ‘real world’ advice that will help RPs tackle the key challenges they face, and also take advantage of the many opportunities the changing face of the sector presents.

The interactive lunchtime seminars, to be held in Manchester, Liverpool and Preston between December 2016 and May 2017, will cover a broad range of areas including housing management, development, governance, regulation and commercial property.

The dates and topics for the seminars are as follows:

  • 6 December 2016: Managing fixed term tenancies
  • 18 January 2017: A smart approach to commercial assets
  • 1 March 2017: Dealing with vexatious complaints
  • 21 March 2017: Housing supply in the new world – developing for profit
  • 9 May 2017: Right to Buy 2.0

“Since the last general election the government’s radical housing policy agenda has thrown up a wide range of issues for the sector that require careful legal and wider strategic consideration,” says Croftons’ Managing Partner, Simon Leighton. “As a specialist housing and regeneration law firm, Croftons is delighted to be teaming up with CIHNW to deliver this programme of seminars to provide some of the legal advice and insight required to help their members successfully navigate the uncharted waters ahead.”

The events are free to CIH members and full details of times, locations and how to book your place can be found on the Events pages of the CIH website here:

Maggie Shannon, Board Member at CIHNW said: “As the professional body for housing, we offer a wide range of events and practical tools to help our members be brilliant, and the legal workshops we are putting on with Croftons are a key part of the support we’re offering in the North West. With vast experience in the sector and a large RP client base in the North West, Croftons Solicitors were a natural choice to work with on these events.”
