Croftons donates £1000 to good causes

20 December 2017 • Mike Nuttall

Croftons has donated £1000 to charities to help them continue providing vital support in the communities where our housing clients work.

Earlier this month – instead of sending corporate Christmas cards and gifts - we set up a Christmas Charity Fund and called on housing providers to nominate good causes in their neighbourhoods that would benefit from a donation.

Thanks you to everyone who got in touch - we’ve been delighted with the number of nominations that we received, and are really pleased to donate much-needed money to the following charities and community projects:

Lower Kersal Young People and Community Group

Nominated by Salix Homes, LKPCG provides a range of meaningful activities for young people in the Kersal area of Salford, focused on healthy eating, growing fruit and vegetables, arts projects and twice-weekly youth clubs. The project is run by community volunteers, and our donation will be used to support the ongoing running of the youth clubs.

Nominated by Great Places, Humraaz provides support to women and children, particularly those from a BME background who are experiencing domestic abuse and harmful ‘traditional practices’ such as female genital mutilation and forced marriage. Their work involves teaching life skills to support independence, and our donation will help resource sewing classes that will help improve skills and confidence.

Chatterbox Project

Nominated by Northwards Housing, the Chatterbox Project provides a range of support in the Charlestown area of north Manchester. It runs a food bank, job club, digital support, a play group and a range of summer activities for the local community. Its Big Lottery funding has recently expired, and our donation will support the ongoing running of the project.

Realise Foundation

Nominated by Aspire Housing, Realise helps young learners and apprentices to overcome barriers to skills and employment, supporting travel costs, driving lessons and clothing allowances. It is also developing initiatives to provide health and well-being activities and deliver environmental improvements in targeted areas in the local neighbourhood.

Ministry2Business is a joint venture between the Diocese of Manchester and a network of local Christian professionals and business owners. Its vision is to see increasing numbers of Manchester’s professionals developing a faith that inspires and equips them to make a truly transformative and vibrant contribution to their workplaces and the wider business community.

Best wishes to all for a peaceful festive season and a positive and prosperous 2018!
